English Certification Process

PARTICIPANT’S GUIDE FOR THE BASIC LEVEL

Before taking the test for the Basic Level you must take part in a diagnostic assessment session. According to the results of your assessment, you will either take the Certification Test or you will not.

DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT SESSION

It has three parts in English. The three parts are completed the same day.

First, there is a listening comprehension exercise to demonstrate your capacity to relate a sentence, or an idea, to some written options. You will not write any words but will choose among written options.

Second, there will be a composition.  We understand this is the BASIC level; however, we expect a clear composition. You should use more than one grammar tense, some other structures, and vocabulary to write your paper, but there is one grammar tense to be emphasized in your composition.  So check the grammar tenses on the content sheet for the Basic level (attached to this paper). You have a maximum of 40 minutes to write this paper.

Third, there will be an oral interview. Besides answering some questions you are going to read some sentences or paragraphs aloud. We expect you to communicate accurately and fluently according to the level.

The three parts are independent. You need to pass the three of them.

The diagnostic session finishes with the oral part. The established time,  for completing it,  is estimated to be between a minimum of an hour and about two and a half hours, depending on how fast you finish your tasks.

You will obtain the result of your participation no more than three days later. Some of you might be informed about the result of your test the very same day. Others would have to wait for a phone call. If you pass the diagnostic assessment session, the instructor from INA will arrange an appointment with you for the basic level test.

BASIC   LEVEL  TEST

It only has only one test and it is oral. The oral test consists of answering some questions based on topics on the content sheet paper.
